Felt Report

Why do I Report a Quake ?

Your felt reports are very vital in knowing how strong the shaking was in your area. If a magnitude 5 earthquake 200 kilometers away was strong enough to cracks walls in your house, then there's a very good chance that the next time there is a similar earthquake, 200 kilometers away, damage could be the same. Knowing how the ground below you behaves is very vital when it comes to the safety of your home and your family. For our part, your report is assigned a
Mercalli Intensity value and Historical Shake Intensity Maps are plotted. These show in a very simple fashion the different levels of ground shaking around the epicenter and in the neighbouring region. You can also tell us about a certain earthquake you might have felt several years back.
